Avalara Tax Integration

This documentation page will take you through setting up and managing Taxes with Avalara.

 


Connecting Avalara

Click on “Store Setup” from the main navigation menu and select “Tax” from the sub-navigation menu.

In this page, click on the action button inside the Avalara bulletin and select “Connect” from the dropdown menu.

When clicking on the “Connect” option, an overlay will open where you will enter all the details from your Avalara account.

For Production mode – only fill in the fields marked in green in the following screenshot.

For Sandbox mode – only fill in the fields marked in blue in the following screenshot.

In the “Environment” field – fill in either “Production” or “Sandbox” according to the environment you selected to go with.

 


Mapping Tax Codes

Once conneted, in the Avalara settings, Rebillia allows the merchant to connect up to four different tax classes:

Further, more specific, tax codes can be applied directly per subscription product in the “Rate Plan Charge” level, by editing the “Price” section, selecting the “Custom Tax Item Code” from the “Tax Class” menu and entering the class manually, as shown below:

 


Tax Exemption

You can set tax exemption on the customer level as well as the product level.

 

To set a customer as tax exempt – 

Go to “Accounts” from the navigation menu, find the customer and enter to their account. In the account, select “Profile” from the sub-navigation menu and scroll down to the “Preferences” section. There, you will be able to set the customer to tax exempt.

To set a product as tax exempt – 

Edit the product “Rate Plan Charge”. In the “Price” section, set the tax class to “Non-Taxable”.
